A Few Questions
What are some authors/books/events that have been influential to your work?
I've always been a fan of James Herbert, Raymond Feist, Stephen King and Tamora Pierce. Fantasy and horror have been worlds so enjoyable to dive into. I'm also an avid reader when it comes to Le Guin and Lovecraft, as well as Jules Verne.
How do you see your writing fitting in (or not) within the current world of books?
I'm not too sure of where my writing will fit in, I only know it should be the kind of writing that takes you places, lets you dream, lets you lose yourself to the story.
What are you currently working on?
I'm currently working on a collection of short horror stories about individual encounters with the same kind of beast. Also working on a horror novel about a young woman who gets hurt badly when a bicycle collides with her. Afterwards, she starts seeing a black inky "monster" almost like a terrible shadow, or a dark spectre that follows her around. I'm also working on a fantasy novel.
What has/have been your proudest moment/s as a writer?
It might be a small thing to some, but having people quote sentences of my own work back to me and tell me they really enjoyed my work is what makes it all worthwhile to me. It's the feeling that my words leave an impression on people that allows me to carry on writing, as well as the pure joy I feel when writing something new.
What books/authors are you currently reading or really into?
I'm currently reading a couple of good books. The Little Shop of Hidden Treasures by Holly Hepburn, Sundial by Catriona Ward and re-reading a personal favourite of mine, Magician by Raymond Feist. There are so many amazing authors in the world and I love seeing what they all have to offer a world of attentive readers.
